JOIN US IN ITALY FOR GLASSTRESS 2011!!!

On the heels of his resounding success with GLASSTRESS at the 2009 Venice Biennale, Adriano Berengo returns with a splendid sequel… GLASSTRESS 2011… part of the official program of the 54th Venice Biennale of Art, which will be held at the stunning Instituto Veneto di Scienze Lettere ed Arti in Palazzo Cavalli Franchetti on the Grand Canal, June through November, 2011.

Unlike its cultural predecessor, this exhibition consists of 20 site specific installations, where prominent invited artists have each deliberately selected a room at the Palazzo in which they will exhibit their contemporary work in glass. The roster, to name a few, includes Christian Boltanski, Judy Chicago, Tony Cragg, Jan Fabre, Jim Hodges, Vik Muniz, David Nash, Jaume Plensa, Koen Vanmechelen, Fred Wilson. Contributing their professional vision to this unique exhibition, are two experts, Bonnie Clearwater, Director and Curator of MOCA, Miami, Florida, and Luca Massimo Barbero, Director of MACRO, Rome, Italy.

The plus factor, is the ancillary exhibition at the Berengo Center for Contemporary Art and Glass, in Murano. This segment of the show emphasizes the possibility of experimenting and challenging glass as an innovative and significant material. Represented are emerging and established international architects and designers, whose focus is on glass and its reciprocal influences within the world of architecture and design

GLASSTRESS 2011 is produced by Venice Projects, a partnership between Adriano Berengo and Susan Scherman of San Francisco.
